A few weeks ago, I did a Blog on “Why Collagen Doesn’t Work & Ages You Faster” — mimicking a great marketing headline. The point was that collagen products with only one type of collagen in the ingredients were the more typical purchase by people shopping in stores. But you need all 5 types for it to work fully – and yes, that includes the anti-aging part of collagen support as well.
Afterwards, I got great questions and was able to help some folks a bit more. But one request stumped me – “what is the difference in the 3 collagen products Youngevity has available” (some relatively new ones of which I had taken little notice).
So, I asked someone else (always a good ploy) — the nurse who responds to emailed questions about Youngevity products. Her help is for informational purposes only — and that is exactly what I needed.
Here is what I learned:
#1 – The original Collagen Peptides (pictured here)
…has all 5 of the collagen types needed (as explained in my previous blog).
And there was even a brief video that helped add to the description. CLICK HERE
And the Youngevity newsletter and Resource Center added this info:
By age 30, your body begins to make less collagen, which can result in a number of health issues. Collagen Peptides is a powerful solution, specifically formulated to boost the health of your hair, skin, nails, joints, immune system, and more. It also provides amino acids that play a variety of important roles in the body. Sourced from grass-fed beef, fish, cage-free chicken, and eggshell membrane, it provides the five main collagen types (I, II, III, V, and X).
#2 – Collagen Peptides Bone & Joint Health (pictured here)
…adds to the five main collagen types ingredients focused on joint health: hyaluronic acid, turmeric, MSM, glucosamine and more. As the “name” indicates there are additional nutrients to support healthy bones & joints.
When the response from the nurse came, she pointed out the additional products had descriptions of the areas in which they may go to work: skin moisture & health, symptoms of joint arthritis, joint pain caused by osteoarthritis, and pain/stiffness/swelling of the joints.
Frankly, I had not thought about it until this inquiry prodded me to check further, bone and joint health is a major focus of mine at this point so I will be switching over to this product.
#3 – Collagen Peptides Hair, Skin & Nails BERRY Blast (pictured here)
…have a different aim (along with the collagen benefits). This product focuses on fish collagen (type I) and bovine collagen (type I & II) but also includes the collagen boosting enzymes that allow the body better utilization. The nutrients that aim at the support of hair, skin and nails are Biotin, Vitamin B12, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and a variety of antioxidants to support healthy aging – these are not in the other collagen products. These are added nutrients that may [note this is the “required” language] improve skin elasticity, overall skin complexion, combatting free radicals and anti-aging.
I hope this is enlightening – it was for me. And I am thinking of combining the Berry Blast with my daily drinks – and that is in addition to the Bone & Joint Health Collagen I will be putting in my daily BTT (Beyond Tangy Tangerine).
Thanks for your questions pushing me further into exploring the variety of what Youngevity offers!!
